TGP Photos: Trump Butler, PA Rally Part One-Before

It was a normal day for a Trump rally. Except the traffic getting into the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, a small town located an hour north of Pittsburgh, was heavier than usual and backed up for almost two hours.

Some friendly folks living on the two-lane route offered up their lawns for parking ($20) or had lemonade and snack stands set up in their driveways in the 90-degree heat of a sunny July day.

People who parked along the route and were walking to the Butler Farm Show rally location were making better time than the tens of thousands of us in cars trying to get to the venue’s parking lots several miles away.

After parking, it was a long walk through the parking lot to the merchandise row and then a long wait to the check-in lines. Once inside, the rally had the feel of any other Trump outdoors rally to most attendees.

The rally was held in a large field at the Butler Farm Show property. Plenty of room for tens of thousands of supporters.

The flag over the stage got tangled up by the wind. At one point it appeared to look like an angel or a cross. Not seen in this photo, the press pen had at least two armed officers from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations unit patrolling inside–both women. Their presence struck me as unusual for the Trump rallies I’ve covered.

Many attendees I spoke to were from Butler, like these ladies, or nearby. Also, like these ladies, many in the crowd were not who one would expect to see at a Republican rally. Evidence of Trump expanding the base was definitely witnessed at the Butler rally.

Before Trump took the stage, one of the sniper teams on the roof of a building behind the stage were checking something out. Attendees in the top row of the bleachers on stage left stood up to look at what had drawn the interest of the snipers.

Dr. Ben Carson Given Standing Ovation at Republican Convention During Impassioned Speech About Trump (VIDEO)

Dr. Ben Carson, who served as Trump’s HUD Secretary during the first Trump administration, spoke at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night and was given a standing ovation during his passionate speech.

Much of Carson’s speech focused on the assassination attempt on Trump over the weekend. Carson quoted scripture and talked about his own personal reaction to the horror. It was a very reassuring moment.

Carson is a gentle man of such integrity. He is an inspiration.

From the Vigilant Fox on Twitter/X:

Dr. Ben Carson Brings Down the House with Epic Trump Tribute

“I saw President Trump, a dear friend, escape death by mere inches. And my thoughts immediately turned to the book of Isaiah that says, ‘No weapon formed against you shall prosper.’”

• “First, they tried to ruin his reputation, and he’s more popular now than ever.

• “And then they tried to bankrupt him. And he’s got more money now than he had before.”

• “And then they tried to put him in prison, and he’s freer and has made other people free with him.”

• “And then last weekend, they tried to kill him. And there he is over there, alive and well.”

Rubio Praises ‘Everyday Americans’ in RNC Speech

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) effusively praised the virtues of the American people in a Tuesday speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Rubio took time in his speech to pay particular tribute to Corey Comperatore, the Trump supporter who died in Saturday’s attempt on Trump’s life.

“He was a former fire chief, a loving husband, and was described as ‘the best dad a girl could ever ask for.’ He was a man of God who loved Jesus fiercely and looked after the members of his church,” Rubio said. “Corey was one of the millions of everyday Americans who make our country great. He wasn’t rich, he wasn’t famous, and the only reason why we know his name and story now is because last Saturday he shielded his wife and daughter from an assassin’s bullet. He lost his life the way he lived it: a hero.”

“These are the Americans who wear the red hats and wait for hours under a blazing sun to hear Trump speak, and what they want, what they ask for, it is not hateful or extreme,” he added. “What they want is good jobs, and lower prices. What they want is borders that are secure and for those who come here to do so legally. They want to be safe from criminals and from terrorists, and they want for our leaders to care more about our problems here at home, than about the problems of other countries far away.”

He concluded, “There is absolutely nothing dangerous, or anything divisive, about putting Americans first.”

An America-First Energy Agenda Can Transform Environmental Policy

An America-First Energy Agenda Can Transform Environmental Policy

Unleashing domestic energy production is the real “green” victory.

As radical climate activists rinse and repeat the tired strategy of blocking traffic, throwing soup, and destroying art, the state of our environment worsens. The status quo of environmental activism has left us divided, with the loudest voices dominating conversations while the silent majority, who want common-sense, practical solutions, suffers. We need visionary leadership in energy and environmental policy. Conservatives, with their deep-rooted values of stewardship, economic growth, and national security, are uniquely positioned to offer the change we need.

Conservatives have long valued environmental stewardship, recognizing the importance of preserving our natural resources for future generations. This principle, deeply embedded in conservative philosophy, is evident in the works of influential figures such as Theodore Roosevelt, perhaps the most iconic pioneering force in the conservation movement. Roosevelt’s establishment of national parks, forests, and wildlife refuges was driven by the conviction that preserving America’s natural beauty and resources was essential for the nation’s well-being and prosperity. The principle of stewardship resonates with the conservative value of personal responsibility. Just as individuals are expected to take responsibility for their actions, we must also take responsibility for the impact of our actions on the environment. This includes recognizing and mitigating the negative consequences of pollution, deforestation, and other environmentally harmful practices.

The conservative tradition of conservation reflects an understanding that economic prosperity and environmental health are not mutually exclusive, but interconnected. Healthy ecosystems provide clean air, water, and fertile soil—foundations upon which our economy and society depend. Maintaining these natural systems ensures resources necessary for economic growth and future generations’ well-being.

Some conservatives argue that prioritizing emissions reduction could disadvantage America, but they’re wrong. We can assert our rightful leadership role by reducing emissions in a way that puts America first.

To the end of building on the conservative legacy of environmental leadership, I propose three big ideas for a future Trump administration: unleash nuclear energy, let America build, and pursue American energy dominance.

Nuclear energy stands out as the largest source of carbon-free energy available today. Despite common misconceptions and unfounded safety concerns, nuclear power remains one of the safest and most reliable energy sources. Countries like France and South Korea demonstrate successful nuclear programs, providing reliable and affordable power, while Germany’s energy failures show what not to do. Germany’s decision to phase out nuclear power increased reliance on coal and Russian natural gas, raising carbon emissions. Moreover, the country’s heavy investment in intermittent renewable energy sources has created challenges in maintaining a steady supply. This nuclear phase-out has also contributed to higher electricity prices and greater dependence on Russian energy imports.

Conservatives must dispel the myths and fears that have clouding public perception of nuclear energy. Nuclear energy is safe, and indispensable for lowering carbon pollution, despite what radical environmental groups may say. As the cleanest energy source available, nuclear energy produces zero emissions during electricity generation. Rigorous safety protocols and advanced technologies make nuclear power plants some of the most secure energy facilities in the world, while the reliability of nuclear is unmatched—even by traditional energy sources like natural gas and coal.

Unlike solar and wind, which are intermittent and weather-dependent nuclear plants provide a steady and predictable energy supply. This consistency is crucial for power grid stability and ensures homes and businesses have reliable energy 24/7. Furthermore, nuclear energy produces a significant amount of energy with minimal land use. Unlike solar farms that require vast expanses of land and wind turbines that need to be spaced apart, nuclear power plants have a much smaller footprint. Nuclear’s high energy density allows facilities to be built closer to urban areas where demand is greatest, reducing transmission losses and improving efficiency.

Expanding nuclear energy will significantly reduce carbon pollution while ensuring energy security. As conservatives, we must champion this cause, recognizing that true energy independence and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. By supporting nuclear energy, we not only commit to reducing emissions but also bolster national security by decreasing reliance on foreign energy sources at home and abroad.

Competing with China and Russia on energy production is not just good environmental policy; it is a strategic necessity. By positioning America as a global leader at the forefront of these industries, we can undermine adversarial nations while taking care of American citizens—after all, leading the way in energy production and technology has profound economic benefits.

An all-of-the-above energy strategy is essential for securing America’s position as a global leader. American-produced oil and gas are crucial components of this strategy. Extracted and processed under some of the highest environmental standards in the world, U.S. oil and gas are cleaner and more sustainable than those from countries like Russia. Meanwhile, the clean energy sector is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. By unleashing investment in renewable energy, nuclear power, and innovative technologies, we can create a surge of high-quality, well-paying jobs. These jobs span a wide range of skills and industries, from manufacturing and construction to research and development. Expanding the clean energy sector will also drive significant economic growth, as investments in renewable energy infrastructure lead to increased demand for materials and equipment, stimulating technological innovation and resulting in more efficient and cost-effective energy solutions.

China and Russia understand that in today’s geopolitical landscape, energy is a critical lever of power and influence. To that end, they have aggressively pursued dominance in energy production and technology. China, in particular, is investing heavily in renewable energy supply chains, aiming to become the global leader in clean energy technology. Russia, with its vast natural gas resources and developing reactor technology, continues to leverage energy exports as a tool of geopolitical influence.

An all-of-the-above energy agenda, which provides Americans with abundant and affordable energy, is closely aligned with Trump’s America-First approach. We cannot afford to let China and Russia eat our lunch. These nations are not just competitors; they are strategic adversaries that actively seek to reshape global power dynamics to their advantage. By allowing them to take the lead in global energy markets, we risk falling behind economically, strategically, and environmentally.

The pursuit of affordable, abundant, increasingly clean energy here at home promises significant economic growth and job creation for American citizens. Particularly in rural and red states that have been largely left behind, modernizing our energy infrastructure and embracing clean energy sources will generate high-quality jobs, stimulate development, and diversify local economies. In fact, recent polling shows 92 percent of young rural conservatives prioritize job creation in energy choices, with 70 percent favoring clean energy solutions.

Of course, one of the biggest obstacles to progress in infrastructure development is the labyrinthine permitting process. The average energy project in the U.S. is held up by an astounding 4.5 years and incurs an extra $4.2 million in costs due to outdated government regulations. To prioritize American energy production, we must make it easier to build energy infrastructure here at home—across the entire sector. Critics see permitting reform as a handout to fossil fuels, but this is not the case. In fact, only 18 percent of energy projects delayed by NEPA relate to fossil fuels. Our world demands greater energy production, and American energy, traditional or renewable, is among the cleanest.

Permitting reform also addresses other energy challenges, such as energy blackouts and grid instability exacerbated by extreme weather. Reforms expediting energy technology deployment can increase grid reliability, as a streamlined permitting processes enables faster responses to energy demands. Additionally, accelerating development reduces dependence on aging infrastructure and mitigates power disruptions’ impacts on American communities.

The need for permitting reform is starkly highlighted when we compare our current building pace to that of the past. Consider the Empire State Building, an iconic American structure erected in just one year and 45 days, symbolizing a time when the nation could undertake and complete ambitious projects with remarkable speed and efficiency. Contrast this with today’s average energy project, which languishes in permitting for years. For example, a recent U.S. transmission line took an astounding 18 years to clear permitting hurdles. This glaring contrast showcases a clear decline in our ability to build swiftly. Rekindling America’s capacity for rapid, efficient project completion, ensures that we can meet our modern energy needs.

Achieving a cleaner environment and leading the world in energy isn’t complicated, but it does require a state-of-the-art regulatory framework. This means balancing safety and environmental regulations with common sense reforms, like clear approval timelines and reducing frivolous lawsuits. Removing unnecessary government barriers, empowers American entrepreneurs to build greener, more rapidly. Simplifying permitting encourages investment in energy and carbon capture technology and stimulates economic growth by allowing American companies to maintain their competitive edge.

America’s energy industry stands ready to build, but onerous regulation stands in the way of our goals.

If elected to a second term, the former President Donald Trump has the power, influence, and opportunity to tie his agenda to a legacy of innovation and leadership. By championing nuclear energy, advocating for permitting reform, and asserting American dominance in clean technology, Trump can trailblaze real solutions and leave an indelible mark on our nation’s future.

As the far-left environmental community continues to fumble these issues, an America-First energy agenda could be a promising cornerstone in advancing economic prosperity, enhancing national security, and leaving a more beautiful nation for future generations. Conservatives, committed to stewardship, economic growth, and American leadership, can champion energy and environmental policy, stepping up to embrace these issues with the urgency they deserve. The long-term benefits for our country—and indeed, the world—are immense. The time to act is now, and the opportunity to lead has never been greater.

Let’s build a cleaner, stronger, and more prosperous America.

Utah’s Lee Bullish on a Vance-Led Senate

Utah’s Lee Bullish on a Vance-Led Senate

The senator told TAC that the future is bright for the upper chamber.

The energy inside Fiserv Forum was palpable on night one. The former President Donald Trump made a triumphant return in his first public appearance since a would-be assassin’s bullet grazed his ear. Shortly before entering the convention space, Trump chose Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate to carry the mantle of America First when Trump is gone. For the moment, everything seems to be coming up red, and the aperture for what could be possible in the next four years has been blown wide open.

This is especially the case for the U.S. Senate. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) sat down with The American Conservative to discuss the opportunities that await.

“J.D. Vance is one of my very favorite members of the U.S. Senate,” Lee told TAC right off the bat. “He is in a very small category of senators who are courageous and undeterred to go and advocate for freedom and make sure that we have government reform.”

Lee’s enthusiasm for Vance goes beyond issues and messaging. “If Trump and he are elected, J.D. Vance will be the president of the Senate, the leader of the Senate,” Lee said. With Vance, the senate could return to more constitutional roots. “If, as I suspect might be the case, he decides to take a more active role with regard to the Senate than other modern vice presidents have,” Lee argued, Vance can not only assist in passing the Trump agenda but deliver on another timeless Trump promise: “Drain the swamp.”

“The most obvious, palpable role that the vice president as president of the Senate plays is to cast breaking votes where the Senate stands equally divided on legislation,” Lee explained. “But the president of the Senate is also the only person constitutionally entitled to sit in the presiding officer chair at any given moment.”

While that seems like a mundane or pedestrian job for the vice president to do, Lee said it would give Vance “enormous influence from that perch, particularly as we approach key votes on things.”

“Even just being there from one day to the next, providing leadership to Senate Republicans and to the Senate as a whole, there’s a lot he can do,” Lee affirmed.

If Vance takes a more active role in the Senate’s business, the oligarchy and omnibus way of governance that has dominated the Senate may meet its overdue end. “There was a time when the floor leader was not a terribly significant position. There has been a massive consolidation of power within the Senate over the last two decades,” Lee explained. “There’s nothing about the Constitution that requires it to be that way. The Senate is meant to be an egalitarian body among and between its members. That’s built into the Constitution. One feature of the Constitution that you can’t amend is you can’t change the dynamic of equal representation in the Senate among the states.”

“J.D. Vance can help usher in a new era,” Lee declared.

Trump’s current and apparent strength is opening up the possibility that Senate Republicans could hold a strong majority in the Senate come January 2025—if the state-level presidential election polls are correct.

“I want very much to believe the general election polls and to believe the theory that this has all the makings of a landslide. I want to believe that, and there’s a part of me that intuitively expects that just because of what people have been through—the cost of living, a typical American family shelling out an extra $1,300 a month just to survive. They’ve had enough,” Lee said. “And I think that’s one of the reasons why I tend to lean intuitively toward thinking the general election polls are sending the right signal. But you can’t expect it to be anything other than a really close race.”

If Republicans stay hungry, Lee believes the majority could be larger than one or two votes—it could be three, four, maybe even five, “especially in light of the events over the last few days.”

“The failed assassination attempt, the sense overall that the Democrats have tried to stack the deck against Trump in every way they can and it’s failed,” Lee said. “And I think Americans naturally like to see someone stand up to bullies. And I think that’s going to help not only Trump but Senate Republicans this year a lot.”

The big hurdle the is the 50-plus GOP senators themselves. “We control the gavels at that point. We control the subpoena authority. We have the ability to confirm Trump’s people. We have the ability to advance a Trump agenda,” Lee told TAC. “But the differences between 51 and say, 54, 55, 56 is also significant. It’s not quite as stark and immediately obvious, but it’s significant because then it gives us a little bit of a buffer when push comes to shove.”

Surpassing cloture, 60 votes, is very unlikely. That need not be insurmountable. “As the Democrats reminded us over the last three and a half years—particularly the first two of the last three and a half years—there are things that can be done without 60 votes, primarily through the procedure known as budget reconciliation. And there are also things that you can do when you hold the majority when you’ve got leadership, perhaps leadership from a senate president named J.D. Vance, identifying certain objectives,” Lee claimed.

He elaborated: “Let’s say, outside the context of where you can get something through on reconciliation, attaching something important to a number of Democrats—a must pass bill of some sort that the Democrats are enthusiastic about passing—attaching legislation important to the Trump administration that maybe can’t be passed for reconciliation. There’s a lot that can happen with that.”

Lee added that, with well over 51 GOP senators, “we don’t have to worry about a couple of senators who might not be on board with the program. That makes a big difference. I’ve talked to Trump a fair amount about his VP pick, and from the very beginning, I emphasized with him there are a number of advantages that J.D. Vance would bring—including the fact that he’s known, well liked in the Senate. He’s proven fearless in the Senate. Hasn’t been there very long, but he’s proven to be wise beyond his years and his time in the Senate. He’s respected and he also knows the Senate rules well. Somebody coming at the job from that vantage point, and knows his way around the Senate would also know how he could help promote the President’s legislative agenda, specifically in his role as Senate president.”

And Lee believes the current slate of GOP candidates can deliver on the reforms conservatives want to see in the Senate, especially Bernie Moreno of Ohio. Lee told TAC that Trump shares his optimism.

“Like the rest of us, he’s pretty optimistic about how things look. But he also knows we can’t take anything for granted. He also knows getting the majority doesn’t necessarily assure victory for an America First agenda. Need to be the right message, the right people, who are dialed in,” Lee said. “I don’t want to speak for [Trump], but I suspect that this aspect of J.D. Vance’s abilities, his background and experience, I suspect they had something to do with Trump’s decision.”

“Trump knows that J.D. Vance can be not just a leader in the Senate but the leader in the Senate—because that’s what he will be,” Lee concluded.

CNN’s John King Warns Democrats Trump is on Track for Historic Landslide Victory (VIDEO)

CNN’s John King delivered some very bad news for Democrats this week, suggesting that Trump is headed for a landslide victory in November.

Using a projection map of the country and narrowing down the Electoral College votes, king pointed out that according to CNN’s current projections, Trump could win well over 300 votes.

He correctly suggested that Trump could flip Democrat strongholds like Virginia and New Mexico.

Transcript via Real Clear Politics:

If Donald Trump won, what we have here, dark red states, solid Republican. Light red states, leaning Republican. If he won just those right there, he would already have the path to 270. He would have 272 electoral votes. Look what is different. We have Wisconsin as a toss-up. We have Pennsylvania as a toss-up. Two critical states for Joe Biden. Michigan right now, another critical state for Biden, leaning Republican. Georgia, a state Biden flipped, leaning Republican. Arizona, a toss-up state. That was a state Biden flipped. Nevada, a state he won, leaning Republican. This is the dire strait for Joe Biden right now on the first night of the republican convention. Tomorrow is 16 weeks to Election Day. Sixteen weeks from tomorrow, we count the votes. It is tough to change a map like this in that amount of time.

And here’s why Democrats are so worried. Why so many Democrats are saying, Mr. President, please reconsider and get out of this race. Because right now, Trump is leading here. And Trump is leading here — leading here. Narrowly, but he’s ahead in those states. Trump is leading here. That’s 312 electoral votes. Trump is leading in this Nebraska congressional district. Let me change it that way. Nebraska does it by congressional district. That’s 313 electoral votes.

And Democrats are warning that Trump may not be well ahead. It may still be margin of error. It might be a tie. But right now, Trump is competitive here. That’s blue Virginia. That’s blue New Hampshire.

So, the warnings to the White House are Donald Trump could conceivably, if the current dynamics in the race hold, get 330 or more electoral votes.

DeSantis: ‘Joe Biden Has Failed This Nation’

In a Tuesday Republican National Convention speech, Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis boosted the former President Donald Trump as the standard-bearer of the central commitments of his own failed run for the nomination.

“Life was more affordable when Donald Trump was president, our border was safer under the Trump administration, and our country was respected when Donald Trump was our Commander-in-Chief,” DeSantis said. He also discussed America’s chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan, questioned President Joe Biden’s ability to govern, and excoriated unelected “woke” government bureaucracies.

“Now, Donald Trump stands in their [the Left’s] way, and he stands up for America,” DeSantis said. “Donald Trump has been demonized, he’s been sued, he’s been prosecuted, and he nearly lost his life. We cannot let him down, and we cannot let America down.”

Unnamed Editor of ‘Major News Outlet’ Wants the Media to Stop Using Iconic Photo of Trump After Assassination Attempt Because it Helps Trump

Axios is reporting that an unnamed editor of a ‘major news outlet’ is advising the media not to use the now iconic image of Trump defiantly raising his fist after the attempt on his life this weekend.

This editor recognizes the inherent power of the image and believes that it helps Trump.

This is the way progressives in news rooms across the country think. They are terrified of anything that can be seen as helping Donald Trump. It’s an important reminder that our media is full of Democrat activists posing as journalists.

From Axios:

After the Trump rally shooting, three images stood out immediately. They’ve come to be known in newsrooms as the “Evan photo” by AP’s Evan Vucci, the “Anna photo” by Getty’s Anna Moneymaker, and “the bullet photo” by the New York Times’ Doug Mills.

The big picture: Each photo covering Saturday’s shooting that’s being investigated as both an assassination attempt on former President Trump and domestic terrorism is an example of technical know how, on-the-ground experience, and a deliberate curation process…

Zoom in: Multiple photographers worried privately in conversations with Axios that the images from the rally could turn into a kind of “photoganda,” with the Trump campaign using them to further their agenda despite the photographers’ intent of capturing a news event.

– None would comment on the record for fear of losing future work.

– A photo editor and photographer from a major news outlet said the “amount that publications have been using Evan’s photo is kind of free P.R. for Trump in a way, and its dangerous for media organizations to keep sharing that photo despite how good it is.”

This is an amazing admission of media bias.

Biden to Announce Support For Sweeping Changes to Supreme Court – Term Limits, Ethics Code, Eliminate Broad Immunity For Presidents

Joe Biden will announce support for sweeping changes to the Supreme Court in the coming weeks, according to The Washington Post.

Biden will propose term limits for the justices and an ethics code which both need congressional approval.

Joe Biden also wants to reform broad immunity for presidents after the Supreme Court issued a ruling on immunity.

A Constitutional amendment would be nearly impossible given the number of hurdles Biden would have to go through including both chambers of Congress and two-thirds of the states as well as approval by state legislatures.

The Washington Post reported:

President Biden is finalizing plans to endorse major changes to the Supreme Court in the coming weeks, including proposals for legislation to establish term limits for the justices and an enforceable ethics code, according to two people briefed on the plans.

He is also weighing whether to call for a constitutional amendment to eliminate broad immunity for presidents and other constitutional officeholders, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations.

The announcement would mark a major shift for Biden, a former chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, who has long resisted calls to reform the high court. The potential changes come in response to growing outrage among his supporters about recent ethics scandals surrounding Justice Clarence Thomas and decisions by the new court majority that have changed legal precedent on issues including abortion and federal regulatory powers.

Biden previewed the shift in a Zoom call Saturday with the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

“I’m going to need your help on the Supreme Court, because I’m about to come out — I don’t want to prematurely announce it — but I’m about to come out with a major initiative on limiting the court. … I’ve been working with constitutional scholars for the last three months, and I need some help,” Biden said, according to a transcript of the call obtained by The Washington Post.
